Q1) What values and attitudes were demonstrated by the Singapore community a decade ago during the SARS outbreak? (Inference) What is the importance of such values and attitudes to our society?

    1) Bravery, Courage and Optimism were demonstrated during the SARS outbreak. Because of this attitude many lives were saved during the outbreak due to the commendable doctors and nurses, and thus we are able to progress to where we are currently today.

Q2) How can ordinary citizens like you play your part in defending Singapore in such situations?

    2) We can play a part by keeping ourselves safe through the demonstration of good hygiene practices, and the prevention of the spreading of SARs.

  3. Social Defence
    - The riots were caused when the High Court decided that Maria who had been raised by Muslims during the war should be returned to her biological Catholic parents. This outraged the Muslims which eventually escalated to a riot.
    - It is important for Singaporeans to practice social defence as Singapore is a mulch-ethnic and multi-religious society. If there has tensions between the different races, it would pose a serious problem in Singapore. Having strong social defense is to ensure that such racial riots or internal conflicts do not tear the country apart.
